PREMATURE EJACULATION    1981-1998

The roots of Premature Ejaculation stretch as far back as 1981, when while on hiatus from Christian Death, Rozz Williams and Ron Athey began experimenting with tape loops and noise. From the onset, live events were performance art presentations that often left the audience disgusted and horrified. While the intent was to shock and throw out the rules of convention - it wasn't long before venues refused to book Premature Ejaculation.

After Rozz shelved Christian Death in 1985, he returned to the project, and continued to pursue tape manipulation and manufacturing layers of noise. He teamed himself with Chuck Collison and soon began releasing material through the independant label, Happiest Tapes on Earth, and eventually again performing live shows.

Despite Rozz's hectic schedule with touring and recording for various projects, he'd often return to Premature Ejaculation for a series of recordings, releases and performancnces. He and Chuck continued to work together into the mid-1990's.

The posthumous release "Wound Of Exit" exhibited the range Premature Ejaculation had developed over 15 years of recordings; from tape loops of household appliances to rich, full textures of sound and electronic samples.

Rozz's final recordings were completed by Chuck Collison for the Nico B. film, "Pig".

In 2009, several recordings were purchased by John Collins that contained unreleased noise material that spanned Rozz's career. As John set about laying down the foundations to bring these recordings to light, it was discovered that Ron Marrs contained an additional eight cassettes of unreleased material. Collectively, the recordings became, "Rozz Williams: The Lost Recordings". After being painstakingly remastered and the artwork restored to it's original designs - the material began to surface in 2010. The releases will continue into at least 2012...ensuring years of new discoveries for Rozz's fans.

Das Synthetische Mischgewebe started in the early 80's in Berlin with electronic, industrial, avant-garde associated cassette releases. A first LP on the outstanding Madrid based label Discos Esplendor Geometrico was followed by CD and vinyl releases on SFCR (F), and Pinch-A-Loaf and Povertech (USA). DSM also did projects with MSBR, Mnortham, Frans de Waard, Ios Smolders, Artificial Memory Trace, Thomasius, TBC, The Oval Language and others. The duo participated in a pile of compilations including a 2009 2CD on Suitcase (USA). Several of their earlier cassette works have been reissued on limited edition vinyl pressings on the German Vinyl On Demand label.

Text inside: The music on this cassette is related to, but isn't, the soundtrack of 'El Pez-Vidriera' (The Fish-Churchwindow), a peformance given in the fishseller's section of a market in Barcelona. The performance is based on a story of a man who enters a world in which everything is reduced to a sort of paralysis, drifting slowly, without will. The man finds these forms very attractive and wishes to become part of them. He realizes the danger inherent in this form of existence, but sees clearly in recollection that he has seldom really steered his life. The man lies down and becomes sleepy, but dreams quite badly. An unidentifiable screaming awakens him. He stands and has to realize that this world was and is a reflection of his own.
No Cat. Number. No track listing.
European edition dubbed on black cassette and hand numbered edition of 200 copies.
Canadian edition on clear cassette and not numbered.

WET DREAMS va creciendo en número de miembros de la plantilla y también en número de seguidores. Ambas cosas me honran pero más aún cuando los seguidores se convierten en colaboradores. Este es el caso de RUI CARVALHEIRA, que se ha ofrecido a pasarnos material digno de ser compartido en éste, vuestro blog. La verdad es que ha empezado con mucha fuerza, habida cuenta de que el material que os presento es auténtico oro puro.

Se trata de una compilación titulada VERTIKAL - HORIZONTAL SYMPHONIES, editada por el gran sello FUSION D.E. PRODUCCIONES, en formato cassette y en el año 1986. Si los ingredientes base ya son impresionantes (buen sello, formato cassette, año de oro para la electrónica creativa), los integrantes de semejante documento son de orgasmo: AVANT-DERNIÈRES PENSÉES, LÍNEA TÁCTICA, COMANDO BRUNO, PRÓTESIS MOLECULAR, FERNANDO MATAMOROS, ANA SANZ, AZTEC AIRLINES. ¿Cómo se os ha quedado el cuerpo? A mi se me quedo de piedra pómez cuando vi el listado de esta compilación que desconocía, pero se me acabó de endurecer todo cuando escuché los extasiantes temas que la componen.

No os digo más, sólo quiero reiterar el agradecimiento a RUI CARVALHEIRA por esta magna aportación que hará las delicias de muchos en este largo fin de semana en que celebramos el 523 aniversario de las infames invasiones, saqueos, violaciones y otras atrocidades que les propinamos a las civilizaciones americanas. Aprovechad y sanead vuestras mentes con esta obra maestra.

Thelema ‎– Rosa + Croce (Not On Label, Cassette, 1985) (MP3)

The origins of a music group are always wrapped up by legends or strange stories.
This is not the case for Thelema.
In fact, the group formed in the most normal fashion in the winter of 1984 in Italy when Massimo Mantovani former BLOUSONS NOIRS, bass player Giorgio Parmigiani ex THROBS OF PLEASURE and Gregorio Bardini ex T.A.C. Gave life to the band inspired by Aleister Crowley's ideas, philosophy and esoteric work, calling it Thelema.
The first urgency was to find a drummer and find him in Marco Bucciarelli. With this first line-up composing the first tracks. Surely influenced by the dark-wave and post-punk English of the time, they still managed to give their own soundtrack to their songs, where an important tribal mix between bass and battery created the rhythmic rug for electric guitar harmonies and keyboards , All overwhelmed by vocal melodies that are not always sung, but also screamed. The live debut dates back to November 1984 in Ostiglia (Mantova) in which they played their full repertoire of then. They made a first demo-tape called The Golem and the fall of the dying gods containing 5 tracks and in the b side a bout of that concert. In December of the same year they recorded the first single Rosa Alchemica that came out in the early months of 1985 along with the Fanzine Signal by Sandro Bergamo for Edizioni Lumiere. Reviews on specialized magazines and fanzines were unanimously positive, and Thelema also started a steady live business.
Again in 1985 Massimo and Gregorio incised a ribbon of ritual music called Rosa † Cross, whose first 93 copies were numbered in gold. The first public consents, especially locally, took them to the studio to record other new songs.

AbRAXAS – Hexe (Label Enlightenment Communications, CASS, 1993) (MP3)

Abraxas released one demo, then renamed to the more widely-associated Endvra (Ontario Blue Collar project, if that name is for someone closer). This demo probably contains the same material, or slightly different from Endvr's debut "Dreams of Dark Water". The weather is fine, although I personally prefer the Black Eden. For those who do not associate at all - this is a duet from England making ritual dark ambient.

Stephen Pennick and Christopher Walton were formerly known as Abraxas but changed to Endura and reworked part of their Hexe cassette to produce the Dreams of Dark Waters CD (1994 Nature & Art). This has been followed by contributions to a number of compilations and three other CD albums. Currently, Stephen is pursuing a solo project, Ontario Blue, and the duo run their own tape label, Enlightenment Communications.

Notes

AbBRAXAS was the original name of the duo later known as Endvra. This was the original version of a work from which elements were taken and expanded into Dreams of Dark Waters; released initially on Nature and Art, and then by Red Stream as one half of the Elder Signs double CD.
