Ramleh es un proyecto británico de noise, fundamental e imprescindible, fundado en 1982 por su único miembro constante Gary Mundy, el cual fue un pionero en el género de la electrónica industrial (o matizando "power electronics") y una figura importante en el desarrollo del noise. Creó el legendario sello de culto Broken Flag Records como un medio para difundir las extrañas perversidades auditivas atonales de un puñado de locos de todo el mundo, incluidos los proyectos de Controlled Bleeding, Consumer Electronics, Con-Dom, Maurizio Bianchi, Matthew Bower Skullflower y Total. Ramleh también trabajó principalmente a través de Broken Flag en ese momento, lanzando casi exclusivamente en formato de cassette para su ejecución inicial de 1982-84. Basado en grabaciones de actuaciones de improvisación en vivo, los primeros Ramleh fueron extremadamente influyentes en el desarrollo del power electronics y el harsh noise, estableciendo los estándares para muchos grupos y artistas por venir. Si bien es obvio que hubo poca o ninguna musicalidad o habilidad musical involucrada en la fabricación de este material, su abrasividad y su feroz ética de bricolaje crearon una estética extraña y fascinante. El conjunto de cintas "Awake" 6 (originalmente lanzado en 1985 pero posteriormente reeditado como parte de una retrospectiva de Broken Flag) cubre prácticamente todo lo grabado en la fase inicial del estilo electrónico de Ramleh. Ésta es la versión ampliada por el sello Harbinger Sound consistente en 8 cd's. La versión de 6 cassettes la compartió en su día mi compañera DARYA aquí.
Es mucho material para examinar, pero tiene un atractivo y una atmósfera interesantes y para algunos fans vale la pena escucharlo en su totalidad. No lo dudéis y dadle a los altavoces...

This boxset was originally released in cassette form on the Broken Flag label (BF40) in 1985. This CD version is expanded to include an additional recording of the Live at Morden Tower show and an additional track in "Fistfuck 2" which was omitted from the original release in error.
The tracks on this collection were remastered by Gary Mundy, Anthony Di Franco and Tim Benson at Opus Studios at various times throughout 2010 and 2011. Some of the live recordings were remastered by Gary Mundy, Tommi Keranen and Steve Underwood at the Broken Flag HQ in April 2009.
CD One:
All tracks recorded at the Broken Flag home studio May 31st, 1982.
Tracks 1-6 were originally released on Broken Flag as 31/5/62-82 (BF 1).
Tracks 7-8 are alternative versions which were not released at the time.
CD Two:
Tracks 1-3 are alternative versions of tracks 4-6 from CD One which were not released at the time. Recorded during October and November 1982 at the Broken Flag home studio.
Tracks 4-8 were recorded live at the Broken Flag headquarters in front of an invited audience on January 1st, 1983.
Originally released as Live To Theresienstadt (BF 6).
Track 9 was recorded at the Broken Flag home studio in late 1982. Originally released in an edited form on the Axis Sally compilation cassette (BF8) and not included on the cassette version of the Awake! set.
CD Three:
Tracks 1-2 were recorded at the Broken Flag home studio in November 1982. Originally released on the Neuengamme compilation LP (BFV1).
Tracks 3-4 are alternative versions which were not released at the time.
Tracks 5-9 were recorded live at The Equinox Event. Held at the London LMC on June 21st 1983. Originally released as the McCarthy cassette (BF7).
Tracks 10-11 were recorded at the Broken Flag home studio in December 1982 and January 1983. Originally released as the Rockwell Hate cassette (BF9). This recording was not originally credit to Ramleh.
CD Four:
Tracks 1-5 are an alternative recording of the LMC show from June 21st, 1983.
Tracks 6-15 are a bootleg recording of The Roebuck, London. Originally released on Broken Flag as Live New Force (BF20).
Tracks 16-21 were recorded live on July 11th, 1983 at the Clarendon Hotel, London. Originally released on Broken Flag as Live Phenol (BF24).
CD Five:
Tracks 1-7 were recorded live at the Broken Flag home studio during October and November 1982.
Tracks 1-4 were originally released by Iphar Tapes as Onslaught (Iphar 010).
Tracks 5-7 are the original unmixed tapes of tracks 1, 3 and 4 above.
Tracks 8-11 were recorded in June 1983 at IPS Studios, Goldhawk Road, Shepherd's Bush, London. Originally released as the Ramleh side of the split LP (BFV2) featuring Ramleh A Return To Slavery on one side and Libertarian Recordings Slaughter At Random on the other side.
Tracks 12-13 were recorded at the Broken Flag home studio in January 1983. Track 12 was originally released as part of the Hate's Our Belief compilation cassette on Aquilifer Sodality. Track 13 was originally released on the Broken Flag compilation Axis Sally (BF8).
